We recently launched the ability to import a Purchase Order via CSV or Excel when subscribed to Square for Retail Plus.  You can read details and instructions on our help article here,  or try it out in your Dashboard.  Let us know what you think!

I'm in a similar boat re: creating purchase orders -- lots of line items in my average order. I like the PO feature, but being able to created one by uploading from a CSV or Excel file would be very helpful.

Hey @Trish_Yarn.

Thanks for this insight. I can see how this would be helpful and will make sure to pass this along to the right team.

In the meantime, you can duplicate current or previously created Purchase Orders which may save time in the future.

Requesting this feature as well! We have many SKUs and find it tedious and a long process to manually enter each item into purchase order. If there is a way to upload a CSV of some sort to create a PO that would be great.

I'd like to add to the request for bulk upload by excel or csv to purchase order.  We have lots of different items and the import is both too time consuming and error prone.  Thanks for passing along.

We got you, @PatW! Thanks for adding your voice here, we appreciate it! Passing along now. Cheers!

I also REALLY need to be able to upload PO.  All of our vendors require that we enter our orders on their website.  I could easily export that order to Excel and then upload it to the Purchase order, but at this point I am duplicating efforts with every PO.  Since this is a feature that is available within the item inventory, I should think it should be a pretty quick fix that would save many Square customers a significant amount of time.

@isabelle Thanks. I am familiar with the option of duplicating previous purchase orders, but that's a far cry from being able to upload a new order. I'm not too optimistic about this feature happening, though, considering how long it's been since it was originally suggested.

I am just now learning to use purchase order and realizing the challenges of manual entry.  If the item is already in the item library, I am entering a few letters and it will bring up the item library to click on the item.  For new items, it is as you have said, you must manually create a new item.

It appears to me the vendors  who have already taken orders over the phone must be typing in the orders themselves and then sending us the order confirmation.  A reputable vendor should be able to work with square to figure out how to streamline an import for store owners.

I called a vendor and asked if I could import the invoice that was online and the answer was no.   Square Please help!  This is time intensive.

Is there any update on this?

Please please please allow us to import invoices to square.

PLEASE.

Double data entry is so time consuming and a complete WASTE.

Please guys, can we get an answer on this?

Yes, same here! All of our vendors give us a CSV or Excel file for every order, which we need because most orders are a mix of restock on existing items already in our Item Library and new items we have to add to our Item Library. If we could simply upload those to a new purchase order within Square it would save us a ton of time.

Right now our workaround is to upload only the new items from each order's CSV file to Item Library, then go into the Dashboard and copy/paste each SKU to a new purchase order one by one.
