Has there been an update to the Square retail app or gonna be in the future to add a store credit to a customers profile on it? It would so be helpful.
Trying to give a customer a complementary $25 for hardships. I have the Advanced Accounting so I can use gift cards. I would like to use a 100% discount promo code to pay for this gift card but the only option is Paypal or Stripe. How can I give a customer store credit??
It sounds like you're asking for the ability to add a store credit to your customer's profile in your Directory, @CasperReflexolo. We just started a Square for Retail account today and it's already a problem that we can't give customer credit. This should be fundamental to any business inventory/processing system. Lets go Square
@IHCHealth thanks for taking the time to share! I hear you - this sounds like an important feature for your business. I will send the feedback to our Development Team, but in the meantime, you can issue your customers gift cards to give them a credit to your store. When selling a gift card in our Point of Sale app, you can discount the gift card by 100% to load the card without any charges needing to take place.

If the "refund to gift card" option allows the creation of an egift code, and that code was then automatically associated with the customer (which logically makes sense, because someone receiving a refund isn't typically planning to give that refund money as a gift) then we'd basically have a customer credit system.
I am dying to have the ability to have store credit, without using a workaround. Add a store credit feature please! I know that this would decrease Square's ability to charge one more processing fee, but it certainly does seem that Square is doing fine.
I agree, the credit feature would kick up square to the next level against its compeditors. I currently issue gift cards for all my credits but it is an outdated method to perform such a simple task. I feel you pain.
