Feature Request: Schedule classes + group sessions + multiple clients during one time slot

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Use Square Appointments to schedule classes or group sessions?

Has anyone successfully used Appointments to schedule classes taught to clients/gneeral public?  Looking for tips. Thanks!

Re: apointments

Hey @exdub-

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community.

The ability to book group sessions or an appointment for multiple people is one of our most popular feature requests. I went ahead and moved your post over to this thread to prevent duplicates.

We do not currently have an ideal workaround to suggest. Square Appointments right now isn't optimized for group classes, events, etc. For your business, I may suggest that you use our Square Online Store instead. You will be able to list items as Events, and then sell tickets to the events per person so they can select a quantity:

Let me know if this would work as a workaround for you. Cheers!

Re: Use Square Appointments to schedule classes?

We don't currently offer class or group booking with Appointments - certainly a popular request and I know how helpful it would be for you (and many others.)

For now the only workaround I can suggest would be scheduling overlapping sessions for each client in the group/appointment. However, it's only possible for you to create overlapping appointments manually on your calendar, so this isn't something your customer's could book.

Thanks for your patience while we work to expand the features in our Appointments app. We'll definitely let you if a better solution is available in the future.

Hey @pineapplestudio - Unfortunately, no updates to share at this time, but our Appointments team is definitely seeing the feedback being added here. We will announce if it becomes available in the future.

You can add me to the growing list of user requests. In this world of agile development I would think that after 2-years and many requests that this would have been taken care of already.

Anyone using Schedulicity?  What other solutions are people using since this seems to be dead with Square?

I am aware there have been a ton of requests for this feature in Square Appointments. I would like to echo these in case it helps prioritize.

Workshops and classes are an essential feature for many of us.

Please please please prioritize this feature. I know things that seem simple from the outside might be a lot more complex for developers, but seriously — this is a really key.

I will have to go back to Acuity Scheduling until this is implemented.

BTW if you are looking for a "use case" just look at how Acuity sets things up. their UI could be way improved but the basic approach is on point.

Thank you @wb1dx! I'm sorry for the frustration. As soon as we have any updates we'll let everyone in this thread know.

In the meantime hopefully another seller can share their experience with Schedulicity. For any other interested sellers there's more information about booking and scheduling integrations from the Apps section of the online Square Dashboard.

Hi @mkor - Thanks for adding your voice to this request! I've merged your post over here so we can track it more closely.

@Devon is very interested in tracking all of these requests and I know he appreciates you adding in that use case.

We'll update this thread as we get more info on Appointments group bookings!

Hi @katieand. I cannot answer for @Steph1's needs but for myself, my biggest requirement is the ability to limit the number of people for a given booking time and location. My company produces and teaches various hands-on, workshops throughout the year. Typically they have a duration of either 4 or 8 hours - starting at 8am or 1pm. Essentially we need the ability to set a maximum number of people/seats (typically 15) and have Appointments show a particular booking time as unavailable when that number has been met. In the event that someone should cancel, thus reducing the number of reserved seats, then Appointments could re-open that event to another booking(s). All of the other features (notifications, payments, etc.) are perfectly aligned with how we do business.

My hope is that a simple new field could be added (eg 'MAX PEOPLE PER BOOKING:' ) to the Appointments>Services tab that would default to 1 but also allow us to set it to an arbitrary number of our choosing.  Then, whenever that date & time are booked, the ACTUAL PEOPLE ATTENDING variable would be compared to MAX and the difference would control when the appointemet time & date become unavailable.

I hope this helps and shows @Devon and the team a quick way to update Appointments to support this feature.  Thanks for all the hard work!

It’s now June 2018, 2+ years of “working” on a class add on. There are lots of other scheduling apps out there that allow use of classes. We’re thinking of switching to square pos but until you have a classes option we’ll have to keep giving money to other companies.

Has this issue been resolved yet? I would love to use your system to schedule group classes!

Hey @DiamondPilates, welcome to the seller community and thanks for checking up on this request. I went to look for any updates on class scheduling, and there isn't anything that I can access or share out at this time. Really sorry for any frustration—we are keeping an eye on this and we'll update this post as soon as any developments come through.

I started using the square online store to book my classes, tryouts etc.  I set up my online store.  I manually block off the time in square appointments. I create a “ticketed event” which allows for a certain number of tickets.  Clients can pay right online and I can see who signed up in the dashboard. When they come to a tryout or class they bring the ticket as receipt of payment.  Not ideal as I have to create a separate register button on my site that link to the ecommerce store, but it works for now. I wish they would just role the event feature into appointments so it shows on my checkout menu
