Is there a way to create Appointment categories?

Is there a way to create Appointment categories?

Is there an option to create categories in Appointments? I have a rather long list of services and don't like that my clients have to scroll through everything to get to what they want. If not, is it a feature coming soon?

Thanks!

Re: Is there a way to create Appointment categories?

So, there is a way to do this, but it requires embedding the list on your own website.

In appointments, under online booking, website embed:

"View Advanced Options" button

"Create New Widget for [your company name]"

Give this widget a name - location, day of the week, etc. Whatever will help you know what is in the list.

You can select what staff are able to be booked - so you could limit it per location

You can select which services are to be included

Save

Now you will see the widget in the "Saved Custom Widget" list.

Click view the online booking page will open displaying only the staff and services you selected.

You can copy the link URL and either send it to clients, make a link on your business website, or embed the entire widget into your site. You can even embed several widget on the same page of your website to split up categories, dates/days, location, staff, etc, keeping all services on one page, just organized by categories. Or you can devote seperate pages to specific items/staff/etc. I created a google sites (in google drive) website to try this out. works beautifully with a google site. I haven't tried it with any other site yet.  It molds right into your webpage and keeps viewers on your site and not moving to the appointments page and missing all the other content on your website.

I hope this helps those that are really struggling with the need to have this all categorized and organized better. If you have any questions about what I've done here, please ask.

Re: Appointment Categories?

I see how that would be super useful, especially when you have a wide range of services offered under one roof. We don't have that option right now but we'll announce any updates as soon as they're available.

The categories you create for your services, just like when creating categories for items, are intended for internal organizational purposes. You'll see them, but your clients will not. Currently, it's not possible to display your services using categories on your booking site - this is a popular feature request, @Renewmespa. If something changes, we'll be sure to update this thread, and you'll receive a notification.

I've moved your post over to this thread where @crystalimages shared how they decided to set up their website; feel free to ask them questions about their process! This article from our Support Center should give you a nudge in the right direction, as it lays out how to create and edit widgets.

Guys

THis question is from 2016

Is there any possibility to create categories for clients? they could choose for their appointments FIRST category of services and THAN service inside that category

Its easy

Why in 2020 it is still the question for SQUARE

Please speak with lazy IT people in your company DUE to your customers who are losing clients every day especially in this difficult times

I have many services that I provide for my clients and when they go to my online booking site to make an appointment, they see one big long list. I want to categorize my services so clients can more easily pick and choose the services that they want. It either wont let me make this change or I simply dont know how. Can someone help me with this?

Is there a way for the customer to see the service items by categories on the booking site?

I'm reposting my old reply, as some may not have seen it. I see a lot of new questions on this thread, so I wanted to make sure they saw this solution.

Perhaps someone can remove un-verify the posts that say there isn't a way so people don't miss this option.

I know this may not be the easiest solution for some who would like it to be a direct feature from appointments, but this is an option.

A Viable Solution to Appointment Categories

So, there is a way to do this, but it requires embedding the list on your own website.

In the dashboard, -> appointments, -> online booking -> website embed ->

"View Advanced Options"    ->   "Create New Widget for [your company name]"

Give this widget a name - location, category name, day of the week, etc.

Whatever will help YOU know what is in the list, the customer won't see this title.

You can select what staff are able to be booked - so you could limit it per location

You can select which services are to be included

-Save-

You will want to copy either the widget code to embed in your site or you can copy the Button code to just create a button on your site. Or neither and click done. Under saved custom widgets, click view on your widget to see it in a new webpage - the online booking page will open displaying only the staff and services you selected. .

You can copy the link URL for the new page out of the address bar and either send it to clients, make a link on your business website to this page, or embed the entire widget directly into your site.

A couple tips

  - some sites can use the browser URL to embed the widget, some require the embed code

  - If you need to copy the embed codes again, you have to select edit and save to get to that page.

  - If you change items on these widgets, you don't have to change the code or url on your site, it updates automatically.

You can even embed several widget on the same page of your website to split up categories, dates/days, location, staff, etc, keeping all services on one page, just organized by categories. Or you can devote separate pages to specific items/staff/etc.

Now, this still doesn't all a person to book a hair appointment and select individual services for one appointment. It appears you can select modifiers for these services, but they don't translate to the widget.

I created a google site (in google drive) website to try this out. works beautifully with a google site. I haven't tried it with any other site yet.  It molds right into your webpage and keeps viewers on your site and not moving to the appointments page and missing all the other content on your website.

I hope this helps those that are really struggling with the need to have this all categorized and organized better. If you have any questions about what I've done here, please ask.

crystalimages

this person has a good suggestion that I'm using now

But it didn't solve the problem at all

I still have to many services that I would like my client to book in multiple booking. If I will create different links for different categories my clients would not have ability to go back and choose another service from another category of services because they are already on the booking website inside one category

HELP

As we add services,  the booking site just becomes more lengthy and less organized. Many customers book on their cellphones and end up booking the wrong appointments because it’s a long list of different options.

The services are listed in groups and I’ve created the widgets for specific groupings on my website but booking would be 100 times easier if I were able to categorize the booking site.
