Mark a recurring invoice as paid early

Hello,

 

We have customers that are set up on recurring invoices that are sent on the 1st of every month. Some customers elect to pay their invoice before the 1st of the month in person. 

 

How can we mark the invoice as paid before it actually goes out? I don't want to have to delete/recreate invoices, but currently there doesn't seem to be a way to simply mark an invoice as paid "early". I know I can wait until the invoice is sent and then mark it paid at that time, but that adds additional overhead and requires us to remember who all paid early.

I reached out to our Invoices Team for an update on this feature. Right now it's not on our product road map. We're keeping this thread open so we can track how many sellers request this feature. It might be added to the road map in the future, but I don't know when that might be. 

 

I know it's not the answer you were hoping for, but that's the status as of 12/05/2018.

Hi all - A workaround that I've found is to go on your online Dashboard and head to your Recurring tab > select the series > Edit Series. Where it says Next Invoice, click the date and you can adjust the send date to send Immediately. The customer should instantly receive the Invoice and they can pay via email or you can mark as paid if you're taking payment another way. Keep in mind that this will affect the send date of future Invoices. For example, if you choose to have the Invoice sent today (1/29), it will adjust all future invoices to be sent on the 29th of every month, but you can always go back and adjust the date for the next month's invoice using the same steps as above.

@Chad  any update on a feature being added to the reoccurring invoice to mark as paid? This is for CC on file that get charge monthly or weekly.

I was wondering if early payment for the invoice may soon be coming? This is a big headache waiting until due dates to input payment. Please update if or when this may come available.

I have some clients on a recurring monthly invoices.  Sometimes, they decide to pay ahead some months via check.  So, I have to remember to go record the check payment each month, sometimes for 6 months out.  It would be useful to be able to mark a recurring invoice as already paid before it is sent; or perhaps put an account balance for the invoice to be automatically deducted from.

I've been asking about this for a while now.  It would totally save my business which involves 'memberships' a lot of extra time. I am a small business and it's just my wife and I and it's just a little extra work for her.

I agree. This would be a very beneficial and helpful option.
