Square for Restaurants: Recipe/Ingredient Management

Square for Restaurants: Recipe/Ingredient Management

How has square inventory worked for you? I’m thinking about using it but I worry how it will work with items that use the same ingredients. Ex. Multiple dishes that use chicken. Would this work well with inventory management. If not what have you used that works? Thanks!

Re: Feature Request: Bundle items together as a single item, and pull from inventory individually

+1 on this request.

Currently running a retail basic blank apparel store.

I'd like to start selling custom printed T-shirts(both on/offline), while keeping inventory of my blanks.

How do you keep track of inventory if a product you sell has different set prices.  For example a case of beer is 30.00 but when sold individually it is 3.50 and at happy hour same product is 3.00.  Any ideas.

I guess that depends on how you're changing the Happy Hour price. Technically Square's inventory works off of SKUs (on the side you can see) and by these Item IDs (in the background). So if the SKU is the same, then it'll all be tracked per unit. Unfortunately, I don't think you're going to be able to sell a case on the same SKU as the individual ones.

We have a custom Inventory System as part of our Square-powered Mobile Apps where we can easily do that however.

I am in the same boat and would certainly like to see a solution. I am having trouble with being proactive on some items.

Just chiming in to +1 the request to have better inventory tracking so a single ingredient can be used across multiple items.

Let me try to be direct about my needs....

If I am selling beer... and then I can sell it by 1 unit (1 bottle), by 6-packs, or by 24-cases.

Let's say I just received 10 "24-cases" in my Grocery Shop. I want that all "3 types of variations", 1un, 6un or 24un,  works with the same inventory of 10 cases.

For example:  If I have those 10 cases, that would be 240un of beer bottles. Then I sell 1un to a customer and then 6-pack to another.

How can I make to the inventory show me 233un left?

I know how to create the variations, but how can I specify how many units a variation can take out of the same inventory.

Can you understand me?

Been trying to figure out how to track raw goods better in Square Restuarant.  For example, tracking alcohol used in a mixed drink.  Need to be able to track usage better.  Thanks!

Hey! Thanks for reaching out about this. I've merged your post to an existing thread where @VanKalkerFarms has helped answer something similar in regards to tracking one item multiple ways.

Hi @rwstansel! I've merged your post to an existing thread that may offer some solutions for you from @Valentina. If that doesn't work, then you can look into one of our app partners like Peachworks or Bevspot that both have ingredient tracking.

Yeahh... I noticed that.... and they have the exactly same problem.

Can’t you guys share some information with Shopventory App???

Shopventory has a few

things better than you guys, lots of things worst than you.... but if you could get some “inventory ideas” from them, that would be great.

Hello is there a way to track inventory by piece? Say I have 100 pieces of chicken but sell a 2 piece then a 4 piece it will only track the item "# piece" meal sold and not overall chicken quantity. Is there a way to set his up?
