Inventory management problems

I'm in the middle of doing an inventory, matching it up to what square has on file; however, MANY of the items are not matching up in quantities (many off by 1).  I have a small shop with just me as the 'employee' and I know for a fact that a couple items that are still registering as 'on hand' have indeed been sold (because I have sold them).  I also know that customers have paid for them (I try to be very careful that items move over into the 'cart' when added). How can I make this system more accurate?  If there is nothing else I can do here, I might have to go with another system all together.

Thanks for taking the time to bring this up and sorry to hear about the discrepancies, @inthemaking.

It's tough to say what may be causing this issue, though I'd be happy to take a closer look. Can you share more information on your workflow for how you've been managing your inventory?

In addition, we have partnered with a number of inventory services who can offer a more tailored solution. To see what's available, head over to the App Marketplace > Items & Inventory.

Hope this helps!

@Tom Thanks for the assistance To . For inventory management,  I enter all items in giving each their own sku. Then upon checkout I type in the sku and it moves into the 'cart'.  Now,  I have noticed that not all the time do items actually move to the cart but am aware of this and do my best in paying attention that all the purchases have indeed moved over. Then when it comes to verifying inventory (every couple months) , I print out an items report and physically verify each item and quantity.  This last time in checking I noticed many items off in quantity.  Sure SOME of this COULD BE theft but not likely as many as were not matching up.  I have wondered about getting set up with barcode scanning (maybe this would help? ) but am unfamiliar with all of that and unsure if this would solve some of my troubles.

Thanks for circling back with that information, @inthemaking. That does sound like it shouldn't be happening—if you're certain that you've accurately entered in all appropriate items during a sale, and the inventory is not properly deducted, please send us an example. If we can review a specific payment and correlate it with the inventory on your account, we'll be able to escalate it internally for further review.

If you'd like to speak to an account-specialist who has more visibility into account settings, feel free to reach out to our Customer Success Team as well. Hope this helps get things moving in the right direction!

Thanks @Tom!  I will reach out to them.

In and effort to try to hone in on my problem, I thought I'd see if I can't verify item counts as items sell, so I have decided to check sales against inventory when something is sold.  I know I can see stock history, but it's lumped into a time frame.  Is there a way to view the detailed stock history of an item on a daily basis?  stock history.PNG

Sure thing—thanks for taking the time to reach out to them! At this time, the ability to view a detailed historical data at the item level in the Stock History tab isn't available—though, you might find what you're looking for in the Item Sales tab. Hopefully this helps reconcile. If not, my next best suggestion is reviewing a specific sale/item that you're concerned about with our Customer Success Team.
