Square Ireland: What are Square's processing fees?

For businesses located in the Republic of Ireland Square’s per transaction fees for credit and debit card payments are as follows:

1.75% + VAT for card present payments

This includes contactless payments and inserted (Chip + PIN) transactions accepted with the Square Reader, Square Stand or Square Terminal, and payments made with Square Invoices and in-person payments APIs.

2% + VAT for payments that are manually keyed-in to the Square Point of Sale app

The higher fee for manually keyed-in transactions is due to a greater risk involved with these payments, as neither the card nor the cardholder need to be present for the payment to be processed.

2.5% + VAT for payments taken with Virtual Terminal and Square Invoices.*

The higher fee for manually keyed-in transactions is due to a greater risk involved with these payments, as neither the card nor the cardholder need to be present for the payment to be processed. Note: If a customer pays for invoices in person, e.g. while they are at your business you process the invoice for them, the in-person rate of 1.75% + VAT  applies.

1.4% +25c for online payments made with European cards

2.9%+25c for online payments made with non-European cards

This includes Square Online, Square Checkout Links, Square eCommerce API payments and purchases of Digital Gift Cards.
