I was wondering how can I automatically charge for To Go boxes for online only? I did the modifier but it transferred over to my pos, i only want it for online orders only. Thank you

You can create a separate tax, specifically for your Online sales only, by utilizing the Itemized Taxes feature.
You can use the itemized tax rates in your online Square Dashboard for pickup and delivery orders. Shipping orders will still use the tax rates set in the Square Online Overview page settings. To turn on itemized taxes for pickup and deliver orders:

Open the Square Online Overview page.

Select Settings > Taxes.

Under Tax rates & calculations, toggle on itemized taxes for pickup, delivery or both.

Click the Go To Item Taxes button to view itemized taxes in the online Square Dashboard.
Customers who received an itemized rate rate on a delivery or pickup order can view a calculation of their taxes during checkout, displayed by tax name. If a customer selects pickup or delivery for an item that does not have an itemized tax rate, no tax will be applied to the purchase. Tax exempt items in Square only apply to Square Online pickup or delivery orders, shipped orders will use the tax rates set in the Square Online Overview page settings.

We need to be able to add a surcharge to pickup orders at our restaurant. I know there's a way to do this for delivery, but I don't see a way to do this for pickups. I saw there was a previous discussion about this from April of 2021 and I'm asking again to see if your team has prioritized this feature request, as it seems other sellers are having the same need.
We need this because packaging materials are expensive and we want to pass these costs along to the customer. However, dine-in customers shouldn't have to pay this extra cost.
Please let me know if there's a way to do this or if there's a workaround of some kind available. Thank you!

Is it possible while selling from square online to have a service fee added to all customer orders? A flat rate fee? This could be just like it is setup for the self serve order system but enabled for online pick up orders.

Hi, thanks for the reply. The answer you've provided does not resolve my issue, however. We are looking to add a flat rate service fee onto the order, regardless of what items are purchased.

Jumping in on this one.
Do you want your service fee to be a percentage of the transaction or a flat rate?
If you're looking for a flat rate, then I would suggest creating an item called "Flat Rate Service Fee". Then, you would be able to add it to the transaction.
Please let me know if that doesn't do the trick either.

Hi Kassi,
We are looking for a flat rate service fee that is automatically added to the transaction when the customer orders online. We are not looking to manually add the service fee item to each order as the customers place their own order from the website.

It is only possible to add a service fee for online delivery orders. The pickup option does not currently have this available, but we're happy to pass your feedback along to the teams.
