Square Online site showing up as not secure?

I am not sure why but I just launched my online store and received a message on my Facebook page from a customer saying that their Ipad security is listing the site as unsafe and not secure. Why is this and how can this be fixed? Obviously this is an issue

Hi @MattHebb1995-

Welcome back to the Seller Community! ๐Ÿค—

The SSL for the Square Online Store (powered by Weebly) should be automatically enabled when the site is published, meaning it is a secure link.

What browser are they using? Let me know so I can look into this further! โœจ

Hi @auraandamethyst - I'm sorry to hear that this issue with your domain has brought you to the Seller Community๐Ÿ˜ฅ

This does sound off, but it's difficult to pinpoint what may be happening without looking at your account and settings with you, which we aren't able to do via the Seller Community. For this type of issue, I suggest that you get in touch with our Support Team. If you haven't already, please reach out to Support directly by logging into your Square account and heading here.

In the meantime, I suggest looking over the troubleshooting steps listed here in our Support Center.

What solved my issue was when I created a link from my website I used https://alsfalafel.square.site

instead of www.alsfalafel.square.site ultimately that was my own fault due to not knowing how to create a proper link. Now itโ€™s all good. Hope that helps

Hi @rlteton It can sometimes help to un-publish the site (scroll to the bottom of the page under Website>General Settings) and then re-publish from within the editor. If the un-publish/re-publish trick does not work you will need to check your domain dns settings.

For sites made with the Square Online editor please make sure that your A-records are pointing to 199.34.228.164. You will also want to delete any AAAA records as those will interfere with the SSL certificate.

If you are still having trouble please feel free to reach out to the support team here

Wood, I meant to say that www.name.square.site was the issue. When I made the link as https://www.name.square.site then it worked perfectly.

This is happening to my new site on the square up platform. Have unpublished and republished still having same issue

My experience of this happening was a result of creating a link to the square.site page using www.blahblah.square.site.

The correct way to create a link is to use https://www.blahblah.square.site

fixing that solved my issue so I hope it solves yours too!

best of luck!

I've tried to implement the changes here, using a custom domain, however my site is still showing up as non-secure. My domain provider has a separate charge for an SSL certificate; if I can confirm my settings are correct, can I still expect a secure site via Weebly without having to purchase a SSL certificate from my domain provider? This is my interpretation and I would like to confirm.

To date I have ensured the IP address are correct, have tried the "https://" format for my website, and have tried the unpublish/republish within the editor. I have waited 48 hours after changes and browsers other than chome, but my site continues to display as not secure.

Yes, SSL is always free with all Square websites, @SAE-KR!

If you're running into a bit of trouble, I recommend double-checking to make sure that you have followed the steps we provide here correctly. The most common reason I've noticed for issues with website security is that the domain hasn't been connected properly. You may need to run through the manual steps, located at the bottom of the previously linked page.

If you continue to run into a wall, you'll want to get in touch with our team so that we can take a closer look with you.

Hello.  I recently purchased a domain from Squareup and I am now getting the same issue.  I was previously using a free subdomain which was showing secure but since switching a few days ago, now it's not secure anymore?  I'm thinking a warning telling customers not to enter credit card info, may be bad for business!  Pls Help.

Hi! This happened to me when I first set up my square.site page and added a link from my website. The issue was that I made a link to www.name.square.site but when I changed the link to https://www.name.square.site the issue was resolved. Hope this helps you out!

Fumy.. how the resolution is to unpublish / republish, use the square.site domain etc.. but the truth is, something is broken on Square, when you pay for using your own domain and they say your site will be secured - shows as Unsecure; support should really investigate why. I too have this issue, paid to use my registered domain, waited 48 hrs now, same issue, "site not secure". Now I wonder if I made the right choice using Square... lets see what Support can do here..

Hi there @ichorrofong

Thank you for reaching out to us about this! I visited your website and it does look like it is coming up as secure. If you still see this issue, I recommend trying the website from an incognito browser.

I just set up my website this week and I'm also having the issue. The domain is not secure - I'm using the latest version of chrome and in the address bar, it's grayed out indicating not secure. Visit - www.mooresgeneralstore.ca
