Feature Request: Change locations without logging out

The title of this post has been edited from the original: How to change locations on iPad?

 

I use the same iPad for different "locations".   The only way I can see to change locations is to log off and then log back in and choose the location I want. Is there a way to change locations while logged in?

It is really a pain to change 'locations' in the iPad app. I need to sign out and then sign back in and enter my password every time. There really needs to be a way to easily switch "locations".

The option to change locations on the fly isn't something that is available in Square--it hasn't been since day one unfortunately. I think the rationale is that having multiple locations can lead to staff confusion (where am i?), reporting inaccuracies (that was supposed to be rung in under x location, not y), and overall inventory control.

 

What I do recommend is looking at Device Codes. Instead of using email/password every time you have to log in and out, you can use these 12 digit codes. It makes the location switching go much faster.

 

Failing that, the only other option is to consider investing in another tablet for the other location.

Please make this happen already!

I concur with everyone's frustrations with this. We are mobile food truck and it is time consuming to logout and login every day!

I haven't used this myself, but perhaps a way for you to quickly switch locations:

Use codes for devices.

Set up a device for both locations.

Print a barcode of the device code.

When you log out, use a barcode scanner to quickly scan the code for the right location.

You're back in.

 

This makes you set back up hardware and UI experience and checkout process unfortunately if using the vanilla POS, but if that doesn't matter, it will let you pull up tickets/invoices quicker than filling out user/pass on a touch screen.

I don't know how to use device codes.  Looks to me like they expire in 2 days which would make you be constantly generating codes and communicating that to staff.  I have set up "team members" but don't know what good their pin is.  was hoping they could log in using that.

And I don't have a barcode scanner.

Devices was enabled when I signed up for the free restaurant.  There the device you create can be set as standard device.  The code does not expire.

Please fix this. We have multiple locations and need for our workers to see each calendar or a calendar with all locations on the app.
