POS Default Variables

Hello,

Recently we came out of lockdown here in Sydney and we've noticed a major change in the way variables are selected at POS checkout.

Is this something we can revert back to the original method? or perhaps something in the beta version that is being tested?

When you select a product with variables, it seems to be adding the default or first variable to the cart, for example, small, medium and large.

If we want to sell a large item we need to add the item to the cart and then click on the item in the cart to change the variable to the correct size.

This is causing mistakes at the register as our staff don't logically see straight away that this is happening.

It is also VERY annoying for variable priced items with variants and as we sell crystals, this is pretty much every item.

For example, if we want to record a sale of a rose quartz sphere, we have to click on rose quartz the item, enter the price and then as the default comes up as a generator shape, we need to click on the item in the cart, re-enter the price and change the shape to sphere.

This is reducing the speed of our POS checkout experience and we REALLY need to revert back to the previous way where the variant screen pops up whilst you are entering the price.

Any assistance on how we can change this back would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for reaching back out @Auri 👋

Sorry to hear about the frustrating experience! When an item has multiple variations, you should be prompted to select a variation upon adding it to the cart on your Square Register. Unfortunately, we're not able to look into your account settings via this public forum, but it might also be worth checking if you're using modifiers - head to your item library and select an item that you were seeing this issue with. Next, scroll down to see if there are any modifier sets applied to the item, and select > customise. From there, you'd want to make sure that at least one modifier is listed as required:

I'd definitely recommend reaching out to our support team, who would be able to take a look into your account further, and replicate the issue on their and to file a ticket with engineering if necessary. Please give us a call on 1800 760 137 (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm Melbourne time) when you get a chance so we can dig a little deeper!

Thanks Arie, found the option... although this is going to take me ages to update.. if there are updates like this in future it would be nice for it not to be automatically updated on all items.. Thanks
