New: Connect your Terminal to Square Point of Sale

We're excited to announce a new feature to make taking payments easy! 

You can now wirelessly connect your Square Terminal to Square Point of Sale for a dedicated customer display and checkout device! 

By using this new integration, you can start a sale on Square Stand, an iPad, or tablet, and send it to Square Terminal for payment. Your customer can see their purchase details clearly and pay on a separate screen: all at your counter, curbside, or on the go.

If you already have a Square Terminal that you want to connect to Square POS, simply grab your iPad or tablet running SPOS and go to Settings ​> Hardware > Square Terminal ​and select Connect Square Terminal.

The connected terminal is ace! You get all the benefits of the large customer facing screen (itemised order, tipping etc) while still being able to add a bit of distance.

This is a great feature. 2 things I think would be great though is…

being able to show the receipt screen on the terminal when you record a cash payment. Or be able to print a paper receipt via the terminal from the app when the transaction is complete (for card and cash payments) as you cannot access the transactions tab when the terminal is in this mode. Another thing that would also be great is showing the amount of change/amount payed on the terminal when you record a cash payment l. Overall great feature and will help lots of users.

Can this be used with the Restaurants app? We have a Terminal and the Stand but in the Restaurants app there seems to be no option for it? 
Would be a real shame if you cant 😕

Hi @d4com, thanks for your post. You can connect a Square Terminal to Square Point of Sale app only. Connecting Square Terminal to Square for Restaurant app will be a feature request. I will share your feedback with the Product team.

@Emma_ yes please do, sometimes I get the impression that the restaurants app is a little left behind as restaurants plus does not work with the other epos solution from square ether. it sometimes comes across like the cousin people always forget about inviting to the party :0)
