Square Retail issues

We are migrating to Square for Retail and have discovered a few issues;

1- We can no longer swipe our Gift Cards. They swipe fine in the POS app, but not in the retail app. We are forced to enetr the code manually. Is this a bug or am I missing somthing?

 

2- With the POS app the customer can insert a chip card in the reader at anytime and when its time to charge the card it recognizes it and finishes the transaction. While in the Retail app if a customer inserts a chip card early, we have to remove it and wait for the employee to get to the charge screen before it can be inserted again. Why doest it work like the POS app?
