Square for Reatil Barcode issues

I'm currently trailing the new Square for Retail app and I'm having issues with the printed labels, as they don't seem to get recognized by the iPad camera, but the camera picks it up from the computer screen, though there still is a lag. Also wondering if the codes are location-specific, as in only the deceives of the corresponding location recognize the barcode?

The first thing I'd look at here is whether the items that you have labels for listed as available at the location you're logged into on the Retail POS? Barcodes should not be location specific, but you would need to make sure that the item is actually set to be available at the location.
