What happens to sales history when you delete a category?

What happens to the sales history when you delete a category? Will it change my customers purchase history as well? Will it also delete the items in that category?

Your reporting and sales history will not change regardless of whether you delete an item or category you no longer sell. All reporting logistics and history remain in tact and you should not see any changes to this should you choose to delete a category.
