Item Unavailability With Multi Site

We currently have 3 locations that we are using to sell using the online store.

We manage orders and item availability through Square POS.

When an item is out of stock at one location, we only have the option to set it as unavailable in the first location we created (which makes it unavailable across all locations).

It seems as though you cannot control availability at each site, for a product that you sell across multiple locations.

When a product is set to available again, it moves to "Hidden" status on the website which then requires changing on the dashboard.

So 2 questions - why can't we control availability at site level and why are products marked as "Hidden" when set to Available through the POS app?

Hi @JAMESF, thanks for raising this. So that I can investigate this further on my end, can you let me know:

  • Are all three locations link to one website, or are there three websites and three corresponding locations?
  • To take the items off from the online site, are you currently using toggling the Available for Purchase Online button from blue to grey or is there a different workflow you're following?

This will help me replicate the issue on my end and be able to check with our ECOM team if needed as well.

Hi Tra,

Its one website and 3 locations - you can see it here www.drawingroom.delivery

We currently use Square POS app to manage item availability. Go to items in the menu, select the item and then select unavailable. The problem is you can only do that on one location, which then turns it off at all locations.

Cheers,

James

Thanks so much for letting me know, James!

I was able to replicate this with my own test account so it looks like this is an expected behaviour right now. However, I've reached out to our ECOM specialist team as well to get some further clarification on the logic for the current flow and check if there are any work in progress to change this.

Once I have an update from the team, I'll be sure to reach back out and let you know immediately.

Hi, just seeing if there was any update on this? It's not ideal having multiple sites that we can't control the availability of stock on. Thanks, James

Hey @JAMESF, apology for the delayed reply on this! Our team were working to test out a few things and clarify something with the engineering team.

At the moment, when you're toggling the Available for Purchase Online button off and back on within the Square Point of Sale app, it is expected behaviour that the item will go into the Hidden stage rather than Visible. This has been on the team radar's as they know the flow is not ideal, and there are works in progress to change this behaviour. I don't have an exact date or timeline for when this will changed, but I'm keeping an eye on the ticket to make sure I'll get the most up-to-date information on this change.

Hi Tra,

Thanks for the update.

Do you know if they will work on allowing you to set the item as available / unavailable at specific sites? Instead of it being blanket across all sites.

Thanks,

James

Hey James, thanks for following up! I've raised this as a secondary feature request as well so it is on the team's radar.
