My stand is alternating between charging and not charging my ipad

My iPad and stand are brand new. The iPad is alternating between charging and not charging. What do i do? All cords r plugged in right.

That's really weird @Norton4! 

Is there anything impeding the iPad from connecting to the lighting port? Also does it flicker on and off constantly or does it charge for an extended period of time and then turn off? 

I'll keep an eye out for your reply!
