Retail: I imported new inventory using spreadsheet but now the history of sales is gone?

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: reset inventory

At our retail store, we did an entire inventory count.   I entered it into a spreadsheet and imported it into Square.   Now when I look into inventory history of products, there is only one entry and that is when it was recounted.    There is no history of sales or purchases since that date.

Is this correct?    Why would it remove all of that valuable information?

@TSargent It sounds like you might have unintentionally deleted your item tokens when you replaced your library. If you give us a call Retail Specialist can revert your item library and restore those tokens!

For future reference you can use the export/import tool to do a bulk inventory recount but you should only update the inventory levels (and don't delete item detail columns). But do call as soon as you get a chance so we can help.

Hi Helen, I'm having the same problem as OP.  If I keep the tokens the inventory history should be retained?

@minshallw12 ;

Yes if you keep the Tokens the inventory history is retained.

When creating a NEW item you leave the Token Field Blank and Square assigns a token.  The token is Squares way of Identifying that Item when changes are made in other fields like Quantity, Price, etc.

I want to reset all of my inventory to 0 before the inventory count on 1/1. I'm cleaning up a number of messes and have satisfied myself that this will give me the least complicated restart. Do I do this by Exporting inventory, putting 0s in the entire New Quantity Column and the Importing inventory.

Welcome to the Community, @FAVT

Exporting your Item Library, zeroing out the stock, and importing the spreadsheet would be the fastest way to zero out your inventory for your items.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or it gives you any issues.
