Can I use square in US?

When I signed I was informed that square could be used anywhere in the world. I tried to use it in US and it did not work. the system said: location invalid.

Where do we stand?

If you signed up for a Canadian account for Square you will not be able to process cards outside of Canadian borders.  The same is for any place that Square offers credit card processing, a US account only works in the 50 states and an Australian account only works in Australia.  You would need a US account to process transactions in the US.

Hey @JPWilkinson!

As @VanKalkerFarms pointed out, your account would only work within the country that you activated in. If your account is based in Canada, but you think you will be processing within the US often, I recommend opening an account within the US. Keep in mind that you must meet certain requirements to open a US account.

Please note that this also applies to your hardware as well. The reader you use with your Canadian account will not work within the US.
