Remote Units for Salon

We use Square for a salon and are finding it congested at the register when there are many stylists trying to enter their sale into the system and then charge the customer and we would like for each stylist to have a remote iPad that they would create their customer tickets with then they can send the customer to the main register to pay. We do not want the stylists to be able to clock in or out from their remote unit.

Hi @JPWilkinson

 

You're able to have each of them sign in to the same account on different iPads to complete their sales. 

 

Once they download the Point of Sale app, you can sign them in to your account and apply restrictions as you see fit to allow them to take payments from there and alleviate the congestion at the front register.

We just want the remote units to be able to create tickets which then can be cashed out by the person manning the cash drawer. No payments are to be taken - and they cannot check in or out - except on the main iPad. Is this doable?

@JPWilkinson If you use multiple devices with a single Square account, you can access any open ticket from any logged-in device. 

 

You might want to use the Employee Management features to assign the roles and edit permissions to the way that you'd prefer, but it sounds like it's doable ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Looked at employee permissions and this level of control is not there - or am I missing something?

 

Or can we designate specific iPads - as in the two cash registers - as the only iPads that can be used to clock in and out of? Can we set the remote iPads to not accept payments or clock in and outs?

@JPWilkinson Sorry for my confusion here. 

 

Unfortunately you're not able to remove the ability to accept a payment without also removing the ability to manage open tickets. 

 

You'll need to have each mobile iPad enabled to use the Shared Point of Sale, but used for clocking in/out and managing open tickets. 

 

They can then use the open tickets feature to add services and products and direct the customers to the front to check out.

Can the system be set to make a unit - a remote unit - and each system "application" selected via the dashboard... as an upgrade to Square?

@JPWilkinson While you can setup certain devices to be mobile cashiers, they'll still have the ability to accept payments. 

 

The features that you're needing can't be separated from each other, as they're all a part of the Point of Sale features intended for taking payments. 

 

That's an interesting idea however, and I can see how some busiensses would benefit from a a-la-carte style setup. If anything changes with this, we'll definitely announce it.
