How to add a rel = sponsored tag?

I have a Club website and am trying to add sponsors logos with a link to their site.  I have this request frrom a sponsor:

Here is the link we'd like posted. Can you please have your webmaster add a rel = sponsored tag to the link? This is to comply with Google's requirements for all paid advertising.

Anyone know what this means or how to execute the request?

I'm not familiar with this, but it sounds like that needs to be added to the third party link?
