We’re excited to announce we’re launching a new magstripe credit card reader for iOS devices. 🎉🙌
The new reader connects to iOS devices via the Apple Lightning port so you can take magstripe credit card payments* even if your iPhone/iPad doesn’t have a headphone jack. No need for an adapter!
The new Square magstripe reader is available from the Square Shop.
This reader will also become available in retail stores in the coming weeks. We’ll update this post to let you know where else it’s available and when, but for now, you can sign in to Square Shop to place your order!
Rest assured, the original Square magstripe reader that connects to mobile devices via the headphone jack is still available. Find it in the Square Shop.
As always, you can get started on Square for free with your first magstripe reader on us – the choice of Lightning connection or headset jack up to you. Subsequent magstripe readers will be $10. To offer the new connection type, we are no longer able to provide additional readers at no cost.
*Please note that Interac debit payments cannot be accepted with this new magstripe reader. To accept contactless debit transactions under $100, you'll need the Square Reader for Contactless and Chip.
