Feature Request: Square Gift Card and eGift Card redemption via a third-party website

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Can Square gift cards be used in my Wix site?

We use Wix to host our small business website and just upgraded to their online store functionality becuase it gave us the ability to customize and look like a cohesive party of our website.

We are still using Square to process our payments. We were wondering if Square gift cards and discount codes can still be redeemed on our website?

We've been really happy with our service with Square but really need more customization for selling our classes. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

Is it possible for a customer to order an e-gift card through WooCommerce with the square plugin? I want to open an ecommerce store with WooCommerce and would like customers to be able to order and reedeem Square gift cards on the site. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The official answer is no - https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5433-gift-cards-frequently-asked-questions

However I wonder if you created an item for a gift card on your website, then when the payment completes you load a physical gift card with your square app and apply a 100% discount so you don't have to double-pay.

I figured that's how you would load a gift card if you wanted to give one away as a promotion or something like that...

Has anyone tried something like this?

Thanks for the reply!

actually looks like this has been discussed and the method I was thinking about does work.

I want to sell gift cards, but unless people come to see me at craft fairs, they will likely be buying from me online. My new site will be WooCommerce-driven. Is there anyway to accept Square Gift Cards via WooCommerce?

@OneBreathPhoto - Welcome to the Seller Community, we're happy to have you on board!

In regards to your question, we don't currently support Square's gift cards with sites powered by WooCommerce. I can definitely see how this integration would be useful for those merchants using the same set up. I do believe that WooCommerce has some different digital gift card options, but it would probably be best to check with them on this one. You can find more details on WooCommerce on their Docs site.

I'll be sure to pass your suggestion along to our product liaison team too!

PS) If my answer solved your problem, would you mind marking it as "Best Answer"? That'll help the rest of the community find what they're looking for. If not, just write back, and I'll continue to help. Thanks!

@studiohue716 - Glad to hear most things have been working out. 🙂  As for your question, Square Gift Cards and promo codes don't currently work with a Wix-powered site. Having said that, you can definitely create coupon codes using Wix. Just navigate to your online store settings within their web page. Also, feel free to reach out to them directly if you run into any issues: 1 (800) 600-0949.

Hope this helps!

So I read online via the square website that I could now accept square gift cards in my online woocommerce store.  I bought the square integration plugin for $79 and loaded it onto my site. I had a bunch of gift cards made and now am trying to get set up to sell them and am having problems.  Is this possible?  If not, is there any workaround that helps?  I'm now stuck with a pile of gift cards I can't use...

Again, I use woocommerce for my online store.  I created the site in wordpress.  The site is hosted on godaddy.

I'd like to sell gift cards and enable customers to use the gift cards in place of regular CC payments.  Any help would be appreciated.

The only workaround I can think of at this point is to take the gift card number, turn it into a coupon code and force the customer to use the code all at once...ugh.

Hi @panaglide

While you're able to accept Square Gift Cards from the Square Online Store, Square Gift Cards aren't currently supported with any of the e-commerce integrations at this time.

There might be a workaround that WooCommerce can suggest, but since the integration is built and supported on their end, you'l need to reach out to WooCommerce Support directly.

I have my own website, www.walkermfg.net and have it set up to accept credit cards using Square. If a customer purchases a Square gift card and then goes to my website to purchase a product how do they use their gift card? If the gift card code is entered in the credit card number field it still wants an expiration date and ccv number.
