Hi,
Working on a store with limited inventory and requires future orders for large orders. The app will monitor Square inventory and prevent same day orders when out of inventory. My question is, can you delay when an online order is taken out of Square inventory? If a large order is placed for 3 days from now, I cant have the inventory subtracted at time of order. Does delayed capture allow this? Taking the inventory on "capture", not at purchase. Or is there another way to delay inventory order subtractions. Also in-store iPad POS will be subtracting inventory as well, which will sync to online inventory.
Thanks for the help

Hello @PsuFan! Yes, with the delay_capture feature you can delay inventory deduction until you call the CaptureTransaction endpoint. I see that you also started a case with the API Team. A specialist will follow up with you as soon as they can with more details!

Is there any other wait to delay inventory? I've read you are only allowed 6 days to capture or decline payment. This may not work for us as we already have a 3 day minimum for out of stock orders.

Unfortunately there's no way to delay the inventory @PsuFan. 😓

Is there a way to not deduct inventory at all? (Using Catalog / Order / Checkout API's)
