Card Reader Chip not working

I just updated the Square apps, and the chip reader on the Card Reader is not working. Tap pay is still working, and I made sure iOS is up to date as well. Has anyone experienced this?

I'm wondering if the connection to the reader somehow got corrupted in the update to the software or if there's a firmware update stuck somewhere.

 

I recommend forgetting that reader through your Square app, force close the app, restart the tablet, reopening the app, and then try to reconnect it.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if it forces a firmware update on the reader once it's connected again, but even if it doesn't I'm hopeful that will work for you.

 

If it doesn't, there may be a problem with the reader itself. I recommend calling into Customer Service. They can do a little further digging and you may be eligible for a warranty replacement.

Thanks for your reply! Yeah we tried all those and it’s still not working, so I guess we will contact Square support. Thanks anyways!
