Gift cards are retaining phone numbers/emails!!

Hello. I've gotten a few complaints from customers because the gift cards are saving their phone numbers/emails.

 

The most recent was today. She thought someone stole her info to make a purchase at my store. Turns out she had received a gift card and when she made a purchase she opted for a digital receipt. We recycle the gift cards and that one had saved her information. It auto-sent the previous customer the new customer's receipt.

 

I was under the impress the gift cards don't save information. Any advice?

@rire I'm sorry to hear this happened! If you clear the balance of a gift card the card will be deactivated, and it will also unlink it from digital receipts. To clear a gift card balance from the app:

  1. Navigate to Checkout and select Gift Cards.
  2. Swipe/enter the gift card number.
  3. You'll see the gift card balance at the top, next to the gift card number.
  4. Tap Clear Balance. (This can't be undone!)

You can also clear the balance from the Transactions section of your Dashboard which is useful if the customer is present with the card. 

 

If you did select 'clear balance' for this gift card please make a note of the customer in question and call our CS team so we can investigate!
