Help with Square and Woocommerce plugin

We have a site running Wordpress and the woocommerce.com plugin. We are using both Paypal and Square as means of payment processing. We are using a Woocommerce plugin to allow for Subscription billing on some products. As we are having a discussion with Woocommerce support they are explaining the customer does not need to be involved with the payments are Paypal but the customer will need to manually initiate their membership payment associated with the subscription product when due (last day of month). Is that a true circumstance of using Square as a payment processor?

I can't speak to the integration with PayPal, however all of the Square + WooCommerce features, services, and subscriptions are managed by WooCommerce directly.
