Is there a way to prompt employees to ask customers for information at checkout?

We're a nonprofit and new to Square. We are using the POS and syncing with Quick Books. We would like to have a prompt to employees to record names in Square when collecting donations or selling memberships. Often the customer comes back and wants to verify they made a donation or bought a membership. A lot of these are done with checks or cash. Should the employees create customers in the directory for these types of transactions or record them as a note or both? Is there anyway to configure the item so that they are reminded or required to record the customer? What way would be easiest to search for if a customer comes back a couple months later?

You have the right idea to enter the information into Customer directory.  Unfortunately, there isn't a way to force the Point of Sale employee to ask for that information, that will just have to be training to reinforce that.  In the online dashboard, you can add customers to sales after the fact if one gets missed.  https://squareup.com/dashboard/sales/transactions

@kapPLAY welcome to Square, and to the Seller Community! What kind of non-profit are you? Maybe I can put you in touch with another similar organization here in the community.

@VanKalkerFarms thanks for your help here.
