Square Hardware: Can I use a third party credit card machine?

I already have a credit card machine from First Data.  I discontinued services with them because they continued to increase their fees.  The machine is paid off so it's mine.  

Can I use this machine?

Hi @TaxMan47, thanks for bringing this up and welcome to the Seller Community!

At this time, only Square hardware will work with our Point of Sale app — unfortunately you won't be able to use the machine from First Data. For more information on the types of payment hardware we offer, have a look here at the Square Shop. If you click on "Business Types" at the top of the page, you'll be able to view suggestions based on your business needs.
