Transaction Processed with the Chip Reader do not carry the Customers name on the Inquiry in Square.

  I am accustomed to being able to find a customer sale by looking for their name on the transaction screens.  I notice that if a chip card is used the transaction is stored with a partial card number and (Chip), referencing my Sales Clerk rather than the customer.  

  This gives me some problems.  Just wondering if anyone else finds it troublesome.

Hi there.

 

A cardholder’s name is only captured when the payment card is swiped through the newest version of the magstripe Reader or the Square Stand. When a card isn’t swiped, your customer’s name won’t be captured. 

 

This includes for Chip Payments as well as Contactless payments. 

 

I agree that this would be a great feature to have. I'll send this feedback over to our Product Team.
