Using new “accept donations” button to provide gift cards to healthcare workers?

I am looking for a way to allow customers to purchase gift cards for hospital employees. I was originally going to do e-gift cards (purchased by the customer and sent to our company email for distribution from there). However, I see that there is a new “ask for donations” button on the home screen of the dashboard. 

Anyway I can convert those donations into gift cards without inflating my sales by comping them out or pushing “other” in payment?

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community. 

Hmmm, the donations would come in as donation payments, and there wouldn't be a way to turn them into Gift Cards without using the funds to purchase the Gift Cards. Would you be okay with that? Or would you rather just use our eGift Card system and allow people to purchase those for healthcare workers?
