bar code scanners

I am looking into getting a Bar code scanner,  I just need to know if it will do what I want it to. I would be getting one that is compatible with Square. I need it to scan and add inventory and also scan and take things out of inventory when sold.  Do the recommended scanners do this?

I use the Square Stand and a Barcode Scanner to add and decrease inventory.   When Scanning at checkout screen if the item is in inventory it does decrease the quantity, if it is not in the system you can create the item from the checkout screen.  Another alternative is to click on Items Create Item and fill in the information and scan the barcode into the SKU field.
