You can now sell eGift Cards from your Square Point of Sale

We are excited to launch our newest feature: Selling eGift Cards right from your Point of Sale!

We heard feedback from many sellers that they want to be able to sell eGift Cards directly from the Point of Sale App so their customers can purchase digital gift cards at their store and not worry about plastic gift cards. Today we are releasing that feature for iOS devices. There will be a rollout over the next week, so keep an eye out for this feature:

HOW TO SET IT UP:

There are two ways to setup up eGift Cards, from the Square Point of Sale App or Square Dashboard.

You can easily turn on the ability to sell eGift Cards from your Point of Sale.

  1.  Login to your Square Point of Sale App and select the left side bar
  2. Select Settings and under Checkout Options select Gift Cards.
  3. Toggle the Sell eGift Cards in Store setting to enable this option.

Or you can easily turn on the ability to sell eGift Cards from your Square Dashboard.

  1. Visit the Gift Cards section of your online Square Dashboard> Select Configure.
  2. Toggle Sell eGift Cards in Store to enable this option in the Square app.
  3. Choose different designs for your eGift Card, or upload a file.

HOW IT WORKS:

To sell an eGift Card during a sale:

  1. From your item library, tap Gift Cards > select eGift Card.
  2. Rotate your screen to face the customer> ask them to pick a design, eGift Card amount, and to enter their email address.
  3. Complete the sale

**Note**: Customers will receive the eGift Card via email and they can then print or send it to a friend.

More details on how to set up can be seen here. Please share any feedback or questions you may have!

Thanks!

I guess it's good that this feature is now available, since I too have wanted this feature for a while. But it is totally useless for me, as an android user. I'm very surprised that this feature was not rolled out to both operating systems at the same and there is no mention of it coming to android. I think square really needs to put some work into making the square apps more symmetrical between operating systems.
