cheapest way to charge

I just started my small studio business out of my home and wanted to offer my clients the ability to pay by Credit Card.  My first customer was invoiced a $300 charge.  Square is only allowing me to deposit 286.63 even though it says I have $291 in active sales.  I'm not sure how square come up with either of these numbers and quite honestly, I had no idea that this much would be taken out of each transaction.  Any help in reducing these costs would be great!
