Can lost sales be recovered?

I was having a problem with my reader and kept having to reswipe cards. It was very busy today and by the time it slowed down enough for me to check I realized that all the sales I had made from 9:33am - 10:37 am were not applied to my sales. So basically I gave away free food for over an hour. I am a small business operating out of a farmers market and I cannot afford to lose money. I basically lost all my profit for the day. Is there any way these sales can be recovered?
