Hi Sellers! ๐
If you havenโt already heard, you can offer commission-free delivery by leveraging on-demand delivery, powered by DoorDash. Now, for a limited time, all Square Online sellers will receive free delivery for up to 60 days! ๐
Thatโs right. From May 1, 2022 to June 30, 2022 DoorDash and Square will be waiving delivery fees* for on-demand delivery.
You can offer on-demand delivery to your customers for FREE - they save the $8.50 DoorDash delivery fee and you save the $1.50 Square dispatch fee per order. What a great way to show your customers you care. Less fees = happier customers.
What is on-demand delivery exactly?
With on-demand delivery, when orders are placed on your Square Online ordering page, a DoorDash courier will be automatically dispatched to deliver the order to your customers. The best part is you pay no marketplace commissions.
Note: There is a 3-5km range for ODD with DoorDash, so if a customer is further than 3-5km away they wonโt be able to order delivery.
Why take advantage of on-demand delivery?
Grow your online sales ๐
- Marketplaces can charge up to 30% in commission fees. You can save on commission fees and give your customers the gift of free delivery for a limited time.

- Get setup easily and manage your delivery and in-person orders all in one place.
- When a customer places an online order, it flows to your point of sale, kitchen printers, and kitchen display system so you never miss an order.
- Track your order every step of the way and see the courier details like live map tracking and photo proof of delivery right from the POS.
Reach more customers ๐ซ
- Collect customer information and use tools like Square Marketing so you can send text or email messages to promote special offers in future.
- Easily manage customer service issues like order refunds directly from the POS or Square Dashboard.
- Connect your Square Online website to Google and Facebook and let customers discover and order from your business easily.

Hello!
I have the following banners on my dashboard but when my I went to check it on the customers end it says "sorry, we don't deliver there". Could you please let me know how to fix it? The location is literally 5 mins from my business.
I'm from Halifax, Nova Scotia.

"On-Demand Delivery is free through June 30! Learn more"
"Success! On-demand delivery is now live. View delivery orders in Order Manager. Expect an email in 3 days to activate the optional DoorDash portal to track couriers live. Learn more."
@hcrv I'm sorry you've been having trouble getting everything set up. I've brought your comment to the product team and I will let you know when they get back to me about how to best help you.
How cool!
This is a perfect way for sellers to determine if on-demand delivery is best for their business without having the onus to pay fees! As long as they are clear with their customers that this is for a limited time (the free-ness) having a real life testing phase in the market your serving is priceless!
Sounds great, @Ryan_M!
I have a grocery business, does this door dash delivery still apply for my business? Sometimes order delivery dates are scheduled even 2-3 days in advance, is that okay?

@Pigandpantry Absolutely! On-demand delivery works perfectly for grocers and all kinds of retailers too. Scheduled and immediate orders are both supported and the courier will always be dispatched automatically just in time for an on-time pickup and dropoff. Feel free to email deliveryhelp@squareup.com, or DM me if you have specific questions about how this will work for your business.
@Ryan_M This is fantastic news for our restaurants! However, we have restaurants within close proximity of each other with different menus. Could we suggest a delivery location selector much like the pickup location option?
@sesameubc Square Online does support a location selector. Are you using multiple Square Online sites?

It's good that you have all location set up on one site. I took a look at your site and the location selector looks like it is active. If the seller selects "Pickup" then they can choose a location. If they select "Delivery" and input their address it will return the locations closest to their address to choose from.

Hello,
Can someone confirm if there is a distance radius maximum for this service? It seems if your customers are having a delivery on the other side of the city, it won't let them order.
@Thistleandclove Thanks for your question! I'm sure a few people have been wondering about a maximum distance, so I have updated the original post to include this info.
There is a 3-5km range for ODD with DoorDash, so if a customer is further than 3-5km away they wonโt be able to order delivery.
