[New] Canadian Sellers Can Now Accept JCB Card Payments on all Hardware with Square
Hey Seller Community,
We’re pleased to announce that as of today, all Canadian Square accounts can accept JCB card payments 🎉
JCB acceptance has been expanded and is now available across the full suite of Square products! There will no longer be transaction limits on any JCB payments in Canada. Additionally, you can now accept tap and chip (EMV) payments with JCB cards. Plus, to keep things simple, card processing fees for JCB payments remain the same as fees for any other credit card payment made via Square:
- 2.65% for each tap, insert or swipe card-present transaction on Square Register, Square Stand, Square Terminal, Square Reader for contactless and chip, Square Reader for magstripe or when you connect Square Terminal with Virtual Terminal.
- 3.4% + 15¢ for each manually keyed-in payment to the Square app, recurring payments facilitated via Square Invoices and Virtual Terminal. This also includes our online payment products, including Square eCommerce API, Square Online, Square Online Checkout links, Appointments and purchases of Square Gift Cards.
An automated update will be applied to your POS app and reader firmware, so you won’t need to do anything to start accepting JCB payments!
We hope this update proves useful for your business - let us know in the comments below. 🙂

Interesting thing is I have never until recently heard of this form of payment. So can Japanese issued cards be used in Canada? or just American JCB cards.
