Add a third shipping option?

The third shipping option would say:

Shipping and handling by weight, and location.

The order form will notify the buyer that shipping and handling charges will be calculated for this order.  This total will be announced to you via email.  Your order will not be processed for fulfillment until approved by the buyer.  To pay the S&H calculation, simply add the "S&H Calculation" item to your new shopping cart, and then pay.  Once payment is received, the seller may begin the fulfillment process.

Sellers could create new items that allow them to collect S&H fees outside of the main transaction.

I suggest creating cart items in denominations of $1, $5, $10, $20, $100 etc.

Create a new category called  "Shipping and handling charges."

Grab a picture or logo of a package off the internet to compliment your new item listing.

Name the items:

$1 S&H fee

$5 S&H fee

$10 S&H fee

Create greater denominationss if you anticipate heavy shipments.

Example:  If the customer was assessed a S&H fee of $8, they'd add:

Three $1 S&H fees, and one $5. fee to their shopping cart to equal the full $8. fee owed.

Best practices:  Never assess cents in S&H fee totals, just round up or down to the nearest dollar,

in your own favor of course : )

If your website is setup to collect sales, tax, that's added automatically without your intervention.

Happy selling!

@BusyBee I'm appreciating your posts and ideas. When searching out other Square stores I did find one that had a shipping section.  They used USPS images and fees and said that if anyone wanted to expedited shipping to just add it to their cart. Grand idea.

That's a great idea! Though we don't offer that third shipping option or the ability to create shipping charges by weight or location, you can use price points or modifiers as a workaround.

- Price points: Set your shipping cost at $0.00 and create specific price points within each item. Each price point can factor in different shipping costs (e.g., expedited, standard). Prior to checkout, when a customer clicks an item with multiple price points, a drop-down menu showing the shipping options will appear.

- Modifiers: Create a modifier set called "shipping" and name each individual modifier with your shipping types (e.g., within city limits, outside city limits). Each modifier can add cost to the total purchase, which can accommodate the different shipping fees you apply.

Hope that helps shed some light on Online Store shipping pricing!
