Cannot add employee to payroll because duplicate SS#

Hello, we cannot seem to add an employee to our system because it will not allow an employee to be added with the same SS number.

That said, we cannot pay  an an employee because I have aduplicate inactive account using his SS number that we cannot delete.

How can we solve this? I have read the Seller Community and done multiple Google searches with no avail. This employee needs to be set up in the system on payroll, however I cannot make this happen as it is preventing me to do so because of the SS duplication mentioned above.

there aren't duplicate SSN so is the inactive account the same as the new employee?

Hi @jasonbrumb - Just talked to our Payroll team and they shared instructions for how to fix this. You have two options for adding that employee back:

 

1. You will need to either use the profile that has the SSN saved to it

 

or

 

2. Add that inactive profile with the SSN back to Payroll, edit the SSN to a randomized number, save and then deactivate the profile. This will free up the SSN to be used on the second profile.
