Is there a way to get around square tracking my location? It uses up most of my verizon data plan.

I'm going to assume you're running iOS
maps data would be data used by maps.
location tracking is under cellular - system services - time and location.

Square uses a tiny tiny bit of data. while webpages and photos are tens of megabytes, all these are kilobytes.
Signing in to Square Register ~ 8 kb of data
Declined payments ~ 4 kb of data
Completed payments ~ 10 kb of data
Issuing a refund ~ 4 kb of data
Resending a receipt ~ 4 kb of data

I'm still confused by your answer because I cannot find the sequence you mentioned.

Settings app on iphone
then click cellular
then scroll and click system services
then you'll see time and location but that is the lump of all apps using your location.
you can see the data that the Square app uses under
Settings
Cellular
Point of Sale

I use a laptop, not an i-phone, to use the dashboard etc. I'm already so clumsy with technology I'm reluctant to download an app on a phone.
