Square Terminal and the predictive text?

Forgive me if this information is out there but I couldn't find it.

Just got a Square Terminal, we just recently reopened due to the Covid shutdown, so I haven't put it through its paces too much but the few times I have I've had trouble with the predictive texts sometimes entering the word (often not that close to what I typed) instead of what I actually typed.  Of course, things like brand names and models aren't in a normal dictionary so it has mostly happened with adding those.

Will the Terminal start adding new words as I enter them into use?  Is there any way to customize or adjust the keyboard's settings deeper?  For ex. - always show what is typed, right or wrong, as a choice.  Sometimes the suggested words are way off.  Will the Terminal learn over time?

Also, suggestion - often I want to enter more detail in a sale and if I could enter details sooner, like after choosing the item or even directly after entering price it would be helpful.  Right now the steps are: choose item, enter price, hit current sale at top,  tap item and then enter details.  If you use the keypad instead of the library you can add a note at the same time as the price which would be great except you can not assign it to a category at any point so it messes up the useful reporting later.  Alternative would be to use keypad, add note and then assign it to a category.

I'm happy to hear you're back open and hope things are going well for you.

Now forgive me if this is a stupid question but I want to make sure I'm answering you correctly- with the predictive text part do you mean when you're searching in the Item Library?

Also happy to pass your suggestion along about the item details. I can definitely see how that'd be cumbersome.

Usually when I'm typing product detail on a sale such as brand or model.  Even common words won't appear.

For ex. Fender is a common brand that is also a regular word as in car fender.  I can type out 'Fender' but it doesn't appear in the top 3 choices that are at the top of the keyboard.  Hitting the enter button usually inserts the word I typed but not always.  So in this case, just give me what I typed, not 3 alternatives.

Another example might be a word that isn't a regular word, like Stratocaster.  That would be a word I would type a good bit and it would be nice to have it start appearing as part of my Terminal's dictionary.

Most all phone keyboards have some customizing like adding words you type and adjusting the predictive words.  Just wondering how the Terminal's works.

To be quite honest I'm not for sure on this but I'm happy to reach out to one of our Hardware specialists who might be able to answer this better for me.

I reached out to Hardware engineering and they said they've actually heard this request quite a few times and were interested in looking into it more.

They're passing it up to the rest of their team to take a look into it so fingers crossed that this will be something we're able to implement in future improvements!
