Feature Request: Allow customers to pay for third-party delivery orders using Square Gift Cards

Feature Request: Allow customers to pay for third-party delivery orders using Square Gift Cards

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Add Gift Card as payment option has disappeared from the checkout

The ability to enter a Square Gift Card as a payment option has disappeared from the checkout for delivery in my online store.  It is still an option when the customer selects Pickup.

This has worked flawlessly for weeks now, but suddenly disappeared.  How do I get it back?  All of my delivery orders are paid for by Gift Card!

Hi y'all!

Dropping in to let you know that Square Gift Cards will now appear as a payment option for all In-House and On-Demand Deliveries orders. Please give our team a call if you are running into any troubles with this field appearing at the end of the checkout flow!

@Joe It looks like @veronicamason is referring to Appointments rather than Ecomm, if that makes a difference

Screen Shot 2020-10-20 at 3.55.25 PM.pngMy customer is trying to checkout online and use a gift card to pay. However, they're not seeing an option to input the gift card as a payment method. Do I have to activate this on my end? Are we just missing the field where the customer can input the gift card? Help!

Hey @DishPlz

I believe that this is only affecting Delivery Orders - possibly third party delivery. Gift cards definitely work for shipping and pickup orders.

I’m not sure why this is - maybe someone from the Square eCommerce team would be able to have more insight

Weird...definitely not 3P delivery, I do everything in-house.

Good question. The number on the gift card should be automatically accepted when it's entered into the card information box.

Is the buyer using a Square Gift Card vs say a Visa gift card? Is it a physical gift card or an egift card?

It is a Square gift card, and an e-gift card that I issued from my business through Square. Please take a look at the screenshot I attached above. Where in there should the customer enter the gift card number? There is a field for credit cards, and a field for coupon codes, but neither of those seem correct for gift cards.

Typically with Square Gift Cards on Square Online, there's a separate link that pops up saying "Add Gift Card" - entering the Square gift card info into the regular credit card info spot doesn't work

I have heard from other people that the Gift Card link doesn't show up when it's a Delivery Order

I just searched and found this thread:

https://www.sellercommunity.com/t5/Troubleshooting/Add-Gift-Card-as-payment-option-has-disappeared-f...

Yikes the feature has been gone for 3 months 😮 That's really not good for my business, my customers are expecting to switch between pickup and delivery and they are confused why they can't use gift cards for delivery orders. Devalues the gift card and reduces transactions to my business i.e. transactions through Square.

A customer called saying they were unable to enter a gift card as payment, so I walked her through the process and started an order on my computer so I could explain. At payment details my screen showed "add a gift card" and "add a coupon code" as options. But on her screen there was no button for "add a gift card," only "add a coupon code."
