Feature Request: Automatically hide Out of Stock items on my Square Online website

I really don't like items of sold-out items appearing in the store and it can be time consuming to have to remember what's sold out, then go and manually hide it. Is there a way or an option that can allow any "Out of Stock" items to be automatically hidden?

At this time, the ability to have your items be hidden automatically when they are out of stock is a Feature Request. I understand how this would be useful, especially if you have a large Item Library, @jshiree - we'll definitely update this thread if this feature is built out.

In the meantime, the easiest way to manage is to make these edits through the Item Library page. To help save time here, if you have a large Item Library, it may be helpful to export your Item Library. You can do this from either your Square Item Library, or the Item Library found in the website editor for your Square Online Store.

When you export, there will be a column titled Current Quantity. Any items with a '0' in that column are out of stock. Once you identify the out of stock items, you can go back to your Item Library and search for those items by name instead of mentally keeping up with your sold out items. I hope this helps!

I just wanted to add to this thread. I run and own a Digital Marketing Agency and we have built dozens of websites for our clients in the last year. Almost all of these sites were for online only shops and we use other very adaptive and robust platforms (which I won't name out of respect for the forum host) but needless to say, they can suit almost any requirement.

However, in the last month three recent clients that we've built e-Commerce sites for also had high street stores, so we advised using Square for the Payment Gateway and POS Software.

This works great, because Square POS syncs perfectly with the website software we use for building e-Commerce sites and the transaction fees are pretty much the same as the usual Payment Gateway we use.

Thanks to the latest lockdowns in the UK and increasing amount of high street retailers are starting to understand how important an e-Commerce website is and we now have another 12 sites to build (all for high street retailers).

Unfortunately, the three clients we have recently completed sites for are now complaining about this "products not automatically hiding when out of stock issue". To be perfectly honest, I didn't realise there was such a flaw in your POS because for the most part, it's far superior to many I've seen. I was really hoping to find a solution, but I found this thread instead, so I decided to add my name to the "feature request list".

It would seem this has been a problem for a while and I don't get the impression you'll be rectifying it anytime soon. So I guess for now, I will be returning to the usual payment gateway we use for our clients and will be searching for an alternative POS, because 3 less than happy clients is bad enough, but with the way things are going, we will be building a lot more e-Commerce sites for high street retailers.

If the intention is to rectify this flaw before Christmas, do let me know and save me the trouble of searching for an alternative POS option for all my clients.

* Also for the record, I think it's a little misleading to flag this thread as "SOLVED", because the best answer doesn't solve the problem at all.

Can you add me to this feature request also. 99% of my items are one offs and to manually hide sold items is unrealistic.

How long will it take to add this feature please?

@Coldstream I don't have a timeline for when this specific feature will be released, but I do know we have this type of issue on our roadmap. Keep an eye out for announcement threads.

Hello All.. I'm trying to hide out of stock items from appearing on my Square online store.  I would like the Square software to do this automatically.  Is this possible?  Is there a way to request the feature?

Also, when I use the filter to select items "equal to" zero stock, items with non-zero stock also show up.  I have also tried to filter using "less than" one, but this provides the same result.  So it seems I'm not able to do it manually, either.

Am I doing something wrong?

I also need this - I have a couple hundred items and it makes it very hard for customers to scroll through the site to order when it shows so many items that are out of stock. It is tedious to go through and hide them. It is even more tedious when I have to remember to make them visible again once I add more inventory. I would like this feature to automatically hide out of stock items and automatically make an item that receives stock available for purchase again online.

This feature would be extremely useful for my purposes, too. I came searching for a "how to" but also found this thread instead. Please add my name to the list for requesting this feature. I'm honestly kind of confused as to how this was not thought about far earlier into the creation of this platform.

Hi, I wanted to add to the request for items with "0" to be hidden on the website.  I have had customers complain about the frustration of this on the site.  I'm obviously not a programmer, but can't a formula be written so "0" equals "hidden"?  Thanks, Paula

I run a used video game store and have 8,000+ items in inventory and multiple variations for most of my items since pricing varies based on condition and inclusions (case, artwork, manual, etc.) My issue is that both items AND variations that are out of stock still show in my store. Hiding items doesn't work because when I have 5 variations of an item and 4 of them are sold out, I can't hide them and they won't pull on a report since I still have the item in stock.
