Hi,

 

We quickly built a Square/Weebly Online Store this week so that people could place contactless/curbside orders for our gelato shop. It's working great and I love that the tickets print out when it's time to make the order.

 

We are also implementing a local delivery service where people can preorder with us and we'll deliver it on Friday night. Right now we're doing it by email to take their item order and we respond back with a Square Invoice to capture payment. Has anyone successfully found a way to do local delivery with the Online Store platform?

 

It would be awesome if besides Pickup or Shipping, merchants could toggle on a Local Delivery button and the merchant could set a few options, such as "Delivery on Friday night, 4-7pm," "Delivery on Saturday afternoon, 12-6pm." Maybe with an option to assign a fee, but that's less important during this emergency response.

We are currently testing Batch Processing in our Beta Community, which may help you out. This is another update to allowing pre-orders on your online store.  We'd love for you to join in the test and provide feedback.

I own a bakery and I am trying to set up an online store for Thanksgiving pre orders.  I would like to set it up where I schedule their pick up time and the day.  Is this possible in square?  All I see is that they pick a time and day at checkout.

We don't yet have pre-order feature, although it's something our team is tracking. I'm going to merge your post into another thread about this so you can get updated easily if this changes. In the meantime, you might want to check out the app from official Square partner @PreOrder_Apps.

We're looking for something like this too! We want to restrict ordering to a specific day and not say every Wednesday. Square help?

Same!! Thanksgiving pre-order is big for us...to be able to do it online through Square and not have to use another commerce platform would be amazing.

May I ask which commerce platform do you use now? I really need on line ordering.  My bakery is getting to busy to do all in house/phone orders.

We use Square Online for immediate ordering/pick up. Haven't found a solution for pre-ordering yet. For Mother's Day pre-order, we used the commerce available through our website (Squarespace) which allows people to pick a day/time (or you can offer specific days/times for them to choose from.) It does have its own issues though as far as reporting and taxes. Happy to chat offline - just email me! baker@bakeshopva.com

I begin taking orders for Thanksgiving Pies on October 1st each year. This is my 6th year and I was really hoping that online sales would work great through Square this year, but unfortunately, there is one problem... I can't choose a specific date that all pies ordered will be delivered. Because the pies are for customer's Thanksgiving feasts, I deliver all pies on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. It would be awesome if I could choose a custom delivery date assigned to items in the store. For example, this year in 2020, that date would be November 25th.

 

Instead, I have had to create item descriptions and banners on my page to make sure people ignore all other delivery date info because their pies will be delivered on the 25th only. The thing is, many people don't read these messages and then contact me after their order is complete asking why it says their delivery day is after Thanksgiving. This seems like it would be a SIMPLE thing to fix in this platform. If this option isn't available by October 1st of 2021, I will be switching to Shopify. Please fix this!

No, that’s NOT the feature they are looking for. They are requesting (as is EVERY OTHER SQUARE USER!) that the SELLER can define the DATE (not day) and TIME RANGE of pick up and/or delivery for pre-orders of particular items!  I am getting set to offer Xmas pre-orders for pick up on 3 different dates in December...Square has no options for me on that! Like, reallly?????! I currently deciding which is the best option right now...dealing with hassle & emails & messages (not mention looking completely unprofessional) from customers questioning the auto generated (and incorrect) pick up date that Square provided or changing web platforms to Shopify. 
You know what? I’ve written on this board too many times with nothing to show for it. It’ll take less time to build a new site. It’s time for me to change. 

As we are starting to get inquiries for holiday orders, we would like to make online ordering available more than 30 days out.  Is this possible? I cannot find any function for this. Thank you.
