Hi,

 

We quickly built a Square/Weebly Online Store this week so that people could place contactless/curbside orders for our gelato shop. It's working great and I love that the tickets print out when it's time to make the order.

 

We are also implementing a local delivery service where people can preorder with us and we'll deliver it on Friday night. Right now we're doing it by email to take their item order and we respond back with a Square Invoice to capture payment. Has anyone successfully found a way to do local delivery with the Online Store platform?

 

It would be awesome if besides Pickup or Shipping, merchants could toggle on a Local Delivery button and the merchant could set a few options, such as "Delivery on Friday night, 4-7pm," "Delivery on Saturday afternoon, 12-6pm." Maybe with an option to assign a fee, but that's less important during this emergency response.

We are currently testing Batch Processing in our Beta Community, which may help you out. This is another update to allowing pre-orders on your online store.  We'd love for you to join in the test and provide feedback.

We are a company that does some presales for special releases on the online store.  I love the "Low Inventory" and "Out Of Stock" indicators feature, however, it would be really nice if you could add a "Presales" indicator option to help our presale items really pop and stand out more.

Is there a solution for Preorder/Wish List yet?  

I would like the ability to accept preorders for products without processing payment until product is received.  Especially during the holiday season there are many products that are announced with a later shipping date.  Need a way to capture the preorders.

We really value having feature requests from our sellers and since this one fits closely with our pre order requests I've merged this thread in with another. You should be able to see some workarounds in there or collaborate with other sellers to see what works best for you. 🙂

We have been using square online to sell our normal menu items with success this year. However, for the holidays we wanted to set it up so that we could take pre-orders that would be available for pick-up on a specific date, with very specific times. Unfortunately, items have the ability to be set-up so that you can select a "prep" time, but then that timeframe will give them a date for availability. If I set it up so that my Thanksgiving meals have a 2-week prep time, as it gets closer to the holiday all of my orders are going to be telling customers that the pick-up day is in fact after the actual pick-up date (the holiday). The only way I can see to get around this is to literally change the prep time on all these items daily, which is a major time sink. Has anyone found any work-arounds? This is a really big bummer.

Thanks for the response.  Unfortunately does not get me any closer.  I want to capture orders without processing payments until product is picked up.  Example:  I’m selling logo’d t shirts and want to accept preorders by size, style and color.  Do not want to process payment until they arrive at shop and are picked up.

Is this still considered a feature request guys?  This is basic!  I don't know why Square pushed the Online Weebly store so hard to vendors when it is far from rich in capabilities.  

 

- Pre-ordering items for holiday sales is KEY

- Setting future day/time deliveries is KEY

- Not automatically cropping images dramatically when showing item purchase lightbox

 

These are just basic things, and I really had hoped we'd have some progress by now.

Currently we're tracking the request to set a specific day for pickup. We've seen an influx of sellers looking for the same feature since the holidays are coming up. Adding your voice will hopefully bump the priority level up.

There is a fantastic workaround that was posted here by @alehner that has been most helpful for holiday orders.  The solution is copied below but I would post any questions in the other thread.  I also added a modifier with pickup time slot options.  Hopefully this helps you out like it did myself and others 😁.  Good luck!

 

@alehner: "Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I work for a school and we use Square for both our book store, as well as for fundraising events that have a specific day for item pickups.  I have found a way to work around the shortcoming of Square being able to handle this process:

 

I create a modifier that contains the date of the pickup of items, and mark that it is Pre-Selected.

 

When setting up the item on the website, I make it a Service rather than a Physical product (even though it is a product).  This overrides the pickup/delivery option, and instead shows the modifier pickup information.

 

The only quirk is that after you change from physical to service on the website side, you have to go back in and reenter the price (even though it shows) on the dashboard side in order to make the item visible on the website.

 

We have used this method for our holiday fundraiser, and I'm in the process of doing it for our annual book sale.  The process is a little clunky, but it works without a lot of explanation to the purchaser."

We need this feature! Been waiting one year now. Especially with the current restaurant regulations this is a must!!
