Hi,

 

We quickly built a Square/Weebly Online Store this week so that people could place contactless/curbside orders for our gelato shop. It's working great and I love that the tickets print out when it's time to make the order.

 

We are also implementing a local delivery service where people can preorder with us and we'll deliver it on Friday night. Right now we're doing it by email to take their item order and we respond back with a Square Invoice to capture payment. Has anyone successfully found a way to do local delivery with the Online Store platform?

 

It would be awesome if besides Pickup or Shipping, merchants could toggle on a Local Delivery button and the merchant could set a few options, such as "Delivery on Friday night, 4-7pm," "Delivery on Saturday afternoon, 12-6pm." Maybe with an option to assign a fee, but that's less important during this emergency response.

We are currently testing Batch Processing in our Beta Community, which may help you out. This is another update to allowing pre-orders on your online store.  We'd love for you to join in the test and provide feedback.

This is exactly the issue we are having. At present there is not a work around for pre sales for an event day(s) that doesn't confuse our customers. At some point the prep time needed and the actual date when we want people to pick up will come out of sync as i struggle to stay on top of adjusting prep time needed before pick up. Also if sales are for two separate days it can't be managed. If there was a way to shut off the pre sets and let us just write our own directions email customer receipt then this problem would be solved. 

Can the weebly site not be set up just to sell items that appear on receipt like "thank you, you have purchased such in such, and we add the date to come pick it up?

The ability to set specific dates/times that you can accept orders is not currently an option, @smokeitup. This is currently being tracked as a feature request - I've moved your post to this thread so that your voice is included in this conversation. Stay subscribed here to be notified when new posts are added, as we'll be sure to update this thread when something changes.

Although Pickup hours can be set for a specific wk day (ex. only on Saturdays and Sundays), a specific day cannot be set (ex. October 1st)

We're currently tracking that request on this thread.  

It would be great if Square was set up with the option for items to be pre-ordered and picked up on the day of an event. For example, we are a restaurant and are partnering with a Halloween drive-in film event one month away. We want people who bought tickets to the film event to be able to go to a specific page on our website featuring menu items specific to the event (ie not readily available other dates), and pre-purchase them with the clear understanding that they will be picking up those items from us on that date, currently 1 month out.

We don't currently have a way to do this, although it's something we're looking into. In the meantime, I'm merging your post into another thread that has some potential solutions, including an app by @PreOrder_Apps.

Hi. @AdamB is correct, we have a Square-powered solution that'll do that out of the box. It's called Pre-Order ironically! We're an official Square Partner and make semi-custom and custom white-label mobile apps that can be setup (by us) in an hour and live in the App Stores in under 48 hours.

 

Our website link with clients, examples, screenshots and a live demo link is in our signature below. That's easy stuff - we even have real-time GPS (so you know when Customers are close), real-time Order Status updates, delayed-capture and all kinds of other cool features.

We are not normally open on Wednesdays but will be the day before Thanksgiving (it's a big pre-order day for us). Now that pre-orders are open for that day there is no way for us to allow customers to select that exact Wednesday without activating all the Wednesdays between now and then.

 

Is there a way around this?

 

* As a current workaround, we've added the date as an item modifier but then need to prompt the customer to ignore the date they choose during checkout. Not ideal. 

We have been selling our pre-set food boxes; the first pick up is in November. Without the option to set a specific pick up date / dates it is creating confusion with our customers. 

The only work around we could deal with, since i can't be constantly adjusting the days of prep time needed, was to say no prep time needed and that we are always open. That way all customers are seeing the same thing at least. But doing that we receive emails like this one this morning from a customer:

 

"Good morning I just ordered a winter farm share and it says its ready to pick up.... Is the 1st share already ready? or does it start in November.. Last year we had downtown pick up so I just want to confirm... Before we head out to the farm Thanks a bunch.."

 

We have written in many places that the first pick up is in November, but it just takes the one wrong date on the automatically generated receipt that customers receive to mess up all the rest of the information we gave them.

I'm really hoping that square adds this feature, with all the work i put in to build the online store it seems a shame to move to a different sales platform 😞

 

@Patchwork EXACTLY my sentiments too!!! SO much confusion. Square, please fix! We have a similar scenario and the same issues with customer confusion.
