How do employees view their cumulative hours?

How do employees view their cumulative hours?

My employees would like to be able to see how many hours they have worked past one shift. Is there a setting somewhere I can change for that?

Re: How do employees view their cumulative hours?

Hi @TrueNature, this is Chris (product manager for Employee Management). Appreciate your earlier post and follow-up here - I hear you! I don't have a timeline I can share yet, but I will say that we are working on this right now. Couple of questions for you below to help us figure out the best approach for this:

- How are you working around this missing feature right now?

- Do you only want your employees to be able to view their own timecards, or would you want them to be able to edit them as well?

- If they're edited, would you want to be notified that a change was made? What would be the best way to show/tell you that an update was made?

- Should employees be able to delete timecards?

- Is there any time limit for which timecards an employee should be able to edit? i.e. only allow this for timecards in the last 2 weeks.

- Do you envision employees being able to log in to Dashboard to access this, or are you thinking more of an email or print-out from the POS after a completed shift?

Re: your comments about the clock in/out flow, I'd love to set up some time with you to chat about which parts you think are too cumbersome. I'll follow up so we can set up a time for a call.

Re: How do employees view their cumulative hours?

At the moment, the only way for employees to have to ability to view past timecards is to update their team permissions to allow them to be able to log into Square Dashboard and "manage timecards".

While this will allow them to view all of their old time cards, it will also give them access to adjust older time cards along with all other employee timecards. I understand that this can cause some issues as employees having the ability to edit each others, or their own, timecards isn't ideal. Ill share this request with our Product team.

I use employment management and would like my employees to be able to see where they are at hour-wise for the pay period.  I can't find a way to do this? Could someone assist?

Hello again @shoplmn!

I moved your post here for visibility on this question. It looks like for now it's still a feature request.

The only workaround is on the first page with @Kelly 's post but that would give them access to edit everyone's timecards so it isn't the most ideal.

We let the Product team know you're another seller asking for this and hopefully we are able to make this update in the future.

As an employer, I would like to see from my square phone app if an employee is clocked in or out from the device located at the store.

So far, I have to run a report through Dashboard, not convenient and time consuming.

Thanks!

If you log into square from the internet browser on your phone and select "desktop site" in your browser options you will have access to timecard information on your phone.

There has been demand for this since 2016 and it's almost 2020 now. This whole thread is filled with years of "We'll push it along... We'll push it along" for one of the most basic of features. And now that Square has upped their prices for small businesses by introducing a 10 cent transaction fee, I've been entertaining the calls I get from other POS companies to come in and replace Square to see if they have better payroll options and solutions.

I liked Square but lack of simple features like this and costs that prey primarily on small businesses is giving all these other companies low hanging fruit for easy business.

I use HomeBase.  It is free and it does my scheduling and everything.  I export the work hours every two weeks and send to my payroll person (because he won't do it himself, lol) and everything is great.  The paid version will allow the employee to punch in and out on their phone and allow more interaction, but we are an American Legion.  The free version is all we can afford. 🙂  Please contact me if you have questions.

Any progress on this 5-year long issue?

Or do I have to switch to Homebase?

@burgerstevens I just double checked with our Development Team and this is still a feature request. In order for your team members to view their own timecards, they would also get the ability to edit them, which I'm not sure you want.

I have shared this with our Development Team too, as I think this is an important feature request. I appreciate your patience and please let me know if you have any other questions! 🙂

Any update on this feature? Doesn't make sense why employees can't see how many hours they have worked for the week/month when they're clocking in and out.

While they can at least print a slip for the day now, Square still has not made it so employees can review their hours for the week 😞
