Why doesn't Square support payroll for multiple locations?

Why doesn't Square support payroll for multiple locations?

I was so in love with Square and Square payroll with just one location for our coffee and ice cream store. So happy in fact that I converted our other existing location from Revel to Square after using it at our second location for a couple of months. The payroll was so easy compared to our restaurants that have to use a payroll company, so I dropped our payroll service as well. Only, come to find out, Square does not support multiple locations for Payroll! I can't split up bank accounts and time cards, I can only run one payroll for all locations coming from one account.

Only one bank account available for payroll when operating multiple locations is not how most businesses operate. I would've assumed Square to be more ahead of this but am very disappointed. I will have to pull both locations off Square Payroll until they start supporting growing businesses.

I am too, actually.

I have an issue with the local tax office lately though. They don't like the local tax jurisdictions needing to be manually differentiated. I mean, it's a 4-line email, twice a year..but they're just lazy.

I can't keep it up past the end of the calendar year. I have two locations, and a catering/off site "location" built into Square, and really, depending on where the catering location is, I'm supposed to  indicate what township/borough the employees are deriving their income while working.

If Square gets off their ass and fixes this blanient shortcoming, I'm all in for years, and years to come for even another location. If they DONT....I'm forced to bail.

Is this really still not available? You can add multiple locations with separate bank accounts to sell items and collect money in Square, but you can't run payroll separately? We moved one of our locations to Square Payroll from Gusto earlier this year and planned to move another at the calendar year end, but I am finding out it's not even possible now.

Welcome back to the Community, @classicfun

Thank you for checking in on this Feature Request. Right now, Payroll is still unavailable for multiple locations.

I would be happy to get this over to our Product Team, so they can look into the possibility of getting this added to the roadmap.

Appreciate you taking the time to ask about this Feature Request.

Putting a request for this feature too. Between this and the new tip policies, it's probably time to find another payroll provider...

@Kassi_

I would like to add my name to the list as well. Please advise your product team that this is an essential feature needed for most businesses. I can't believe they missed the mark on this one.

We are growing our business and want to also do payroll by location.  It's a shame that after all these years, this is a feature that Square has yet to add. I guess we will be sticking to QuickBooks Payroll.
