Can I adjust a tip after it's settled?

Can I adjust a tip after it's settled?

So one of my sever’s tips was settled with the incorrect tip, is there a way to go in and adjust the tip after this or is my server just SOL?

The tip adjustment would be of great help. My staff is losing their tips by keying errors. And there aren't a lot of tips these days! Very frustrating,

Such an important feature that’s been mentioned, suggested and asked for since day one...

Still a problem without an ETA?

Square really needs to fix this. there should be a way to edit a transaction without issuing a refund. That is such an inconvenience to the businesses and the customers. Other programs I have used in the past always had an edit option for adding/adjusting a tip or changing the employee the sale was attributed to. It's such a simple but necessary feature and I am super frustrated that this is not a thing.

We just had this issue tonight as well. We refunded one item and then there was no opportunity to add a tip to the original bill after the refund. It was a big tip and there is no way to add it. My server is very upset.

It's pretty absurd that if you enter a tip wrong, you can't adjust it.  Square has the ability to make this an option and refuses to do so.  Every other POS system on the market has the ability to adjust a tip if entered incorrectly.

So, if someone misses a tip, and settles it to $0, and then realizes, then our workers just lose out on that money, and it's really not fair.

This issue should be addressed by Square, but we have all been complaining about it long enough and they don't seem to care.  Just like a lot of the other issues with their POS system....they simply ignore because they don't have to care.

What is the status of adjusting tips post sale? Can it be at least setup where it sends a customer a link to adjust the tip if we cannot adjust it our self's

Apparently many other card processors like Square have an option whereby the business can pull up a completed transaction and add a legitimate tip to it.  Does Square have this option ?

Here's an example where this is useful.  A service business collects fees before the service.  Afterwards the customer chooses to put tip on the card, rather than cash.  If the business, dips/swipes the card again, it's another $0.10.  Is there a way to pull up the transaction and add tip ?

Thanks for the info.

Hi @trucare8. I moved your question here so we can keep this feature request in one place. If anything changes, we'll post a note on this thread.

Yes this is becoming a tracking nightmare on my end at my bar. Refunds happen no biggie. The issue is the refund is not backing out the tip from the employee who rang the sale.  I have to manually track this to ensure I don't overtip the bartender when I pay his tips in payroll. We need the refunded tips to reduce the amount of tips an owner owes his employees for obvious financial and even for tax purposes should we ever get audited.
